When the Kia Seltos enters its second generation in 2026, the small SUV with a gasoline engine will get a redesign influenced by electric vehicles and offer hybrid powertrains for the first time. The original Seltos will be over seven years old by the time its replacement is released, as Kia has stated it would unveil the new model in January 2026, according to the Korean Car Blog. The boxier and more squared-off front and rear looks of the future Kia Seltos, which are reminiscent of the EV5 mid-sized electric SUV and more in line with the new K4 compact car (which replaces the Cerato) and Sportage medium SUV, have been seen in previous photos of a disguised model. The forthcoming Kia Seltos will keep design features of the existing model, such its integrated roof rails, but it will also have broader wheel-arch moldings, according to videos posted to social media and YouTube by South Korean spy photographer Shorts Car. The new Seltos will come with a choice of gasoline and hybrid powertrains, according to many South Korean media reports. It is anticipated that the Seltos Hybrid will use the same drivetrain as the Hyundai Kona Hybrid, with the added capability of electronic all-wheel drive (E-AWD). A 1.6-liter normally aspirated gasoline engine, a 32kW/172Nm electric motor, a 1.32kWh battery pack, and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox are all combined in the front-wheel drive-only Kona Hybrid. The system's overall outputs are 265Nm and 104kW. The Niro, a hybrid SUV of comparable size from Kia, also has the option of an electric drivetrain. The electric EV3, which is scheduled to go on sale in this country in 2025, will overlap with the Niro. However, Kia has stated that it sees space for both the EV3 and the electric Niro. The first Seltos Hybrid may overtake the Niro HEV in terms of sales, just as the EV3 seems to be eating into the Niro EV. With 7777 sales last year, the Seltos is presently one of Kia's best-selling cars in Australia, trailing only the Sportage, Cerato (now K4), Carnival people mover, and Sorento big SUV. The Sportage, Niro, Sorento, and Carnival are the only hybrid models in Kia's inventory. Together, they sold 5682 units last year, placing the Korean automaker sixth out of 11 in the hybrid vehicle market.
