The new Kia Carnival is now on the market. Kia first introduced a new generation of the series in South Korea in the third quarter of 2020. Other markets such as North America or Russia followed in 2021. In the USA, the van will henceforth also be marketed as Carnival, in which, according to the manufacturer, up to 8 passengers can be accommodated and which,
with its 3.5-litre V6 engine, comes with a whopping 290 hp. Once again, the vehicle will no longer be offered in Central Europe. With its completely revised infotainment system, the new Carnival lives up to its reputation as a family van. The question is why?

Focusing on the Carnival‘s interior, the first thing that catches the eye is the large centre console and a dual screen infotainment system in the first row of seats: the 12.3“ Instrument Cluster and the equally large Head Unit. Both units are mounted directly on the dashboard and look like one unit due to their design and position. Comparing the system with existing US infotainment systems on screens, the similarity to the Genesis GV70 is striking. Both systems have parallels, such as the start animation during the booting process. But with room for up to 8 people, there should also be room for entertainment and information in the rear rows. As far as Rear Seat Entertainment is concerned, the vehicle offers a well-founded package of entertainment with two permanently integrated 8-inch displays for both small passengers and large passengers - from the car‘s own Kids feature to the direct integration of the streaming provider Netflix or HDMI connection. In the second and third row, you can put your feet up and enjoy movies and other media content. But how uniform are the various infotainment systems, what other similarities do we find with the Genesis GV70 system and what are the noteworthy highlights of the Kia
Carnival?
