Clayton: Hey guys, how's it going Clayton here at etrailer.com and today I'm working on a 2020 Kia Sorento. I'll show you guys how to install a PTC Cabin Air Filter. So our cabin air filter should be changed out regularly. What this is going to do, is it's going to make the air a lot cleaner, not only for us, but for our passengers in the vehicle. This is a pretty easy thing to change out. And there's no need to take your car somewhere and pay somebody to do this.
Personally, I change mine every couple oil changes, but you should change it at least once a year. Our filter is constructed out of a White Media Particulate, and it does have pleats. What these pleats are going to do, is catch any dirt and debris coming through our air. This filter is going to block up to 90% of all contaminants. So, as I said, this is a pretty easy thing to install. So I'll show you how to do it now on your Sorento. So for our first step for our installation, it's going to be to open our glove box.
With our glove box open, there is a catch here on the right side. What we'll do is, is we'll pinch these tabs, disconnect our catch and pinch our glove box in. So here's a catch we have to remove. It is kind of tough. So just take your time.
All you have to do is push this down and pull the arm off. You can take your thumb, push down and remove our arm.azdsCXZOur next step is actually pretty cool. Most glove boxes, you have to pinch, but in this case, there's these little tabs and all you do is turn them and pull them out.You can even set them in the glove box like that and lower our glove box down. And as you can see, here's our cabin air filter compartment. To remove our cover, there's two little tabs here.
All we have to do is pinch those together and then this cover will come right off.We do want to make note of which direction our airflow is going, because we need to make sure we install our new filter the same way. When you look here, it looks like our air is coming down through our air box. So when we take this out, we just want to make sure the new one goes in the exact same way. As you can see on our old filter, there is dirt and debris. What this is going to do over time is put more stress on our AC system. We don't want to add more stress to our AC system, because it it going to make it work a lot harder. Not only is our AC going to be working a lot harder, we're going to have more contaminants coming through our air.Now we're ready to install our new filter. We want to make sure that the airflow is in the same direction as it was before. In this case, it is. So, we can go ahead and take our filter, slide it into our compartment, then replace all of our components in the reverse order that we took them apart. With all of your glove box components re-installed, you are ready to hit the road. That's going to do it for a look at and installation of a PTC Cabin Air Filter on our 2020 Kia Sorento..
